An overview

What each service involves

The areas below are the ones handled here. Each has a defined scope — a set of things the fee covers and things it does not. This is stated clearly so that you can judge whether a particular service fits what you need before making an enquiry.

Where a matter does not fit neatly into one of the three services, the initial consultation is usually the right starting point. It is the one service that covers any civil or corporate matter, including ones where it may become clear that no further work is needed.

Service one

Contract review and drafting

¥34,000

Review of commercial agreements before signature, or preparation of documents from the outset. This covers supply arrangements, service terms, distribution agreements, non-disclosure documents and lease terms.

The work sets out obligations in plain summary alongside the drafted or reviewed text, so that you understand what is being agreed — not just whether the document is legally sound.

Service two

Property transaction support

¥42,000

Legal support through the purchase, sale or leasing of commercial and residential property. This covers title verification, examination of the disclosure statement, review of the sale or lease agreement, and attendance at settlement.

Property transactions in Japan involve specific procedures and disclosures that are not always straightforward for buyers unfamiliar with the process, or for those working across languages. This service is designed to sit alongside those procedures, not to duplicate them.

Service three

Initial consultation

¥15,000

A one-hour consultation for individuals or companies wishing to understand their position before deciding whether to proceed further. This covers the applicable framework, realistic options with their likely cost and duration, and whether a matter warrants formal action at all.

Conducted in person or by video, in Japanese or English. This is the appropriate starting point for anyone uncertain whether their situation requires legal work, or who wants to understand what the legal landscape looks like before deciding anything.

What applies regardless of which service you use

Written summary

Every engagement produces a written output in plain language, not just a legal document or verbal briefing.

Fee agreed first

The fee for each defined service is confirmed in writing before work begins. It does not change without a scope change agreed in advance.

Bilingual delivery

All services are available in English or Japanese. Documents in either language can be reviewed and explained in either language.

Honest scope

Where a matter falls outside what is handled here, or where no further work is needed, this is stated clearly — before any further fee is incurred.

Not sure where to start

How to choose the right starting point

If you have a document in front of you

A contract review is probably the right service. Send a brief note describing the document and we will confirm whether it falls within scope and what the fee is.

If you are buying, selling or leasing property

Property transaction support covers the legal elements of the transaction from title through to settlement. An initial consultation first is also possible if you are still at an early stage.

If you are not sure what you need

An initial consultation is designed for this. One hour to explain the applicable framework, the options, and whether anything here can help. A written summary follows.
